Record Store Day

I challenged myself to redesign all the records being re-released for Record Store Day 2016, with the rule that as much as possible needed to be made from scratch. Many album covers feature pictures of the artist, which made things interesting and forced me to be more abstract and conceptual. Favourites include the Aquilo cover, where I spray-painted a flower with metallic paint, and the back cover of John Coltrane’s Roulette Sides, which was made to look like a roulette table. With Django Django I used a projector to put text over a plaster sculpture composition. The whole project allowed me to work in a preferred multidisciplinary way, which was the most fun part. For the exhibition, I wanted to display all the records and include a larger plaque, opting for a laser-etched title in grooves, similar to a vinyl record.
