I was hired as a freelancer to work with Elmfield Care on their upcoming care home. This was a much larger project than I had worked on before, requiring professionalism and sensitivity due to the nature of the business. My duties included helping choose brand colours, logos, and typefaces, as well as building marketing materials like signs, newspaper adverts, and business cards. I also edited some photos for the website and magazine articles. My best contribution was assigning the brand typeface Mrs Eaves XL. It was chosen for its large x-height on lowercase letters, which made it easier to read for those with visual impairment. Additionally, it had a traditional, warm, and classy atheistic that would be well-received by the target market within the context of a care home. Working on this project taught me a lot about teamwork and providing clear explanations for concepts, as well as the necessary steps in designing for a business of this scale from the ground up.
